Shiv Mandir Chhuttan Lal Kaka Girls P.G. & B.Ed. College in Sikandrabad, Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, offers higher education for girls, including students from rural areas of the region. We designed and built a responsive WordPress website that gives students, parents and staff a clear source of college information.
Project overview
When a family is choosing a college for their daughter, they look for reassurance: what courses are offered, how admissions work, what facilities the campus has and how safe and well run the institution is. Many of these families live in villages and small towns and use a mobile phone as their main internet device.
Kaka College needed a website that presents its postgraduate and B.Ed. programmes, explains admissions in plain language and lets the college publish notices and updates. It also needed to show the college’s mission of making quality education available to girls from rural interiors.
The challenge
The core problem was making college information easy to find for families with limited time, data and familiarity with websites.
- Several programmes: PG and B.Ed. courses have different eligibility and admission details, and each needed its own clear page.
- Notices and announcements: admission dates, exam information and events change through the year and must be easy to publish.
- Mobile and low-bandwidth users: pages had to stay light and readable on basic smartphones.
- Building confidence: parents needed to see the campus, facilities and the college’s purpose before contacting it.
Our approach
- Information planning: we gathered course, admission and facility details and organised them into a simple menu that mirrors how families ask questions.
- Design: we used a calm, academic look with large readable text and clear buttons for admissions and contact.
- WordPress build: we developed a dynamic site where the college office can add notices, events and photos from the dashboard.
- On-page SEO basics: we gave course and admission pages clear titles that include the college’s name and location for local searches.
- Testing and launch: we tested pages and forms on common phones and desktops and delivered the website in 30 days.
What we delivered
- A responsive, mobile-friendly WordPress website for the college
- A home page with the college’s introduction, mission and quick links
- Course pages for the postgraduate and B.Ed. programmes
- An admissions section with the process and an enquiry form
- A notices and news section managed by college staff
- Facilities and gallery pages showing the campus and activities
- A contact page with location details on the Bulandshahr–Delhi highway route
Technology and why we chose it
We developed the site on WordPress with PHP and MySQL, using HTML5 and CSS3 for markup and styling. Bootstrap makes the layout adapt to any screen, and JavaScript and jQuery handle menus, galleries and other interactions.
WordPress is well suited to colleges because office staff can post a notice or upload photos without technical training. The standard stack is affordable to host, easy to maintain and straightforward to secure with regular updates.
What this project shows
- College websites should give each programme its own page, so applicants find eligibility and admission details quickly.
- Designing for basic phones and slower connections matters when many families are in rural areas.
- A notices section that staff update themselves turns the website into a place students check regularly.
